Beijing is becoming rebound ground for Daniil Medvedev.

The eighth-seeded Medvedev broke serve six times stopping Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 6-3 charging into the China Open quarterfinals for the third consecutive year.

The 2023 Beijing finalist Medvedev is into his second straight quarterfinal following his final eight finish in Hangzhou.

Medvedev, who split from long-time coach Gilles Cervara after his US Open first-round exit, will face second-seeded Alexander Zverev for a semifinal spot. Medvedev is playing for his first semifinal since he beat Zverev to reach the Halle final in June.

Zverev topped Corentin Moutet 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 in today’s final round of 16 match.

Today, Medvedev won 18 of 26 points played on Davidovich Fokina’s second serve defeating the Spaniard for the fifth time in six meetings.
