"That’s why it took a long time for me to be able to write about it because, as you can imagine, my family and I went through a very difficult time. And I had put this book aside and I didn’t write at all for a long time…“When this happened, on a human level, it was like you know what, yeah this is really hard. And I’m feeling very sad and vulnerable about it, but that’s okay. There’s a certain element of power that like gets you through those moments.”
