Zverev and Kyrgios Bring the House Down

Fun was had by all.But in the end there could only be one winner and that winner was Germany’s Alexander Zverev. The No.4 seed at the Rogers Cup eased past Aussie Nick Kyrgios in an entertaining tilt that saw both players pulling out all their tricks from the bag.There were hot dogs, there were smiles, and quite a bit of interaction with fans.At one point after the Aussie missed a ‘tweener wide by a sliver, Kyrgios and Zverev gathered at the sideline to look at the ballmark while having a laugh. After they parted, Kyrgios flipped the hat of a ballboy in jest.

Trickery aside (there were too many 'tweener attempts to count: see video above), Zverev was the steadier and fitter athlete in this affair, and also more determined. He saved all eight break points he faced to gain his first victory over Kyrgios in three tries and extend his winning streak to seven matches.The 20-year-old will move on to face South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in the quarterfinals.
