Players can Whoop it up starting at Indian Wells.

The ATP has reversed its ruling on Whoop wearable device and other fitness trackers. Players will be permitted to wear the Whoop bracelet starting at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells next week.

“The board approved a rule that extends to the range of permitted wearable devices providers and on-court use by players in ATP competition, and authorized management to determine and finalize the implementation details, including what, if any, new data governance controls to implement,” the ATP Said in a statement.

The ruling comes a month after world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz was required to remove his Whoop at the start of his Australian Open fourth round match. No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 2 Jannik Sinner were also ordered to remove their Whoop wrist devices.

“Whoop is approved by the International Tennis Federation for use during matches and does not pose any safety risk,” Whoop CEO and Founder Will Ahmed said. “Allow athletes to measure their bodies. Data is not steroids!”
