Watch: Dimitrov Designs New Wilson Stick

Grigor Dimitrov has a new title: racquet designer.The world No. 11 is the first Wilson pro to customize his own racquet using the brand’s new digital custom racquet platform.Watch: Roger Federer, Dog WhispererDimitrov, who plays with Wilson’s Pro Staff line, visited Wilson headquarters in Chicago to design his dream stick.Wilson debuted a couple of videos chronicling Dimitrov’s customization experience today.“I’m honored to be the first player to create such a racquet,” Dimitrov said. “It’s always been a dream of mine and I’ve always actually wondered, ever since I was a little boy, ‘Oh, wow, I wish I could do this one day.’ The next thing you know that day arrived for me."I think I’m a very creative person overall. Also, being able to work with the best in the business is pretty spectacular.”

This week, Wilson launched its new digital custom tennis racquet platform.The online platform empowers players to choose their racquet model that best fits their style of play—from the brand’s Blade, Burn and Pro Staff collections—and personalize the racquet’s finish, decals, grommets, bumper guards, logos and grips. Users can also add a motivational message or name their customized stick.

“To me, it’s all about that simplicity, but making sure this is a statement piece,” Dimitrov said of his design. “I think that combination is really good.”Dimitrov crafted a unique camouflage-inspired style.
