Qualifier Cocciaretto Defeats Jovic, Wins Second Career Title in Hobart
Italy's Elisabetta Cocciaretto defeated 18-year-old American Iva Jovic 6-4 6-4 to claim her second career WTA title on Saturday in Hobart.
The world No.80, a runner-up at the same event in 2023, came from qualifying to earn her second career title and did not drop a set in the process.
Cocciaretto hit 21 winners to just seven for Jovic in the 97-minute tussle. She broke serve four times and was broken only twice.
The Italian will head to Melbourne where she is slated to face Julia Grabher of Austria in the first round.
Jovic, seeded 29th in Australia, will face American Katier Volynets in round one. The Torrance, California native has had a solid start to 2026, winning seven of nine matches with a semifinal in Auckland and a final in Hobart.
