Novak Djokovic has stepped out of next month’s Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.

While the Grand Slam king has withdrawn, a pair of French favorites—Gael Monfils and Moïse Kouame—have received wild cards for Monte-Carlo, set for April 4-12th.

Djokovic, who lost his 2025 Monte-Carlo opener to Alejandro Tabilo, is only losing 10 ranking points by missing Monte-Carlo though the 38-year-old Serbian superstar has made it clear at this stage of his career he’s motivated to win Grand Slam titles rather than by ranking positioning. Djokovic lost an epic third-set tiebreaker Indian Wells round-of-16 clash to Jack Draper and subsequently pulled out of the Miami Open and Monte-Carlo.

World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, No. 2 Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, who will supplant Djokovic as No. 3, are all scheduled to headline Monte-Carlo.

Monfils and Kouame join former champion Stan Wawrinka and Matteo Berrettini as Monte-Carlo wild cards.
