Watch: Andy Murray Aces Carlos Alcaraz with an Underarm Serve

By Chris Oddo | @TheFanChild | Sunday October 10, 2021After saving a pair of break points against Carlos Alcaraz early in the second set on Sunday at Indian Wells, Andy Murray decided to take a page from the Nick Kyrgios playbook. No, he didn’t hit a gratuitous tweener, or get into a shouting match with his opponent or a fan. He hit an underarm serve! Even better? He hit an ace and it ended the game on his terms. Have a look below:

Murray currently trails the 18-year-old wunderkind by a set, so he needs all the help he can get. Stay tuned for a full update of this match, and Murray’s reasoning behind the serve, later.Update: Murray wins in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 in three hours and three minutes. After the contest he spoke about his decision to try an underarm serve for the first time:“He started standing further back to return the first serve, the courts are painfully slow here, I wasn’t getting many free points on my first serve, I served three aces the whole match and one of them was the underarm serve. I was thinking about using it again in the third set, but it was the first time I’ve ever done it in the match and I got the ace – maybe I’ll try it again in the future if guys are standing that far back.”
