John McEnroe is one of a few men to hold the world No. 1 ranking in singles and doubles simultaneously.Now, the New York native has a new title: ambassador.More: Norman Parts from WawrinkaMcEnroe has been named as the honorary ambassador of the inaugural New York Open set for February 11-18th at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.To celebrate, McEnroe and brother Patrick recently visited the Coliseum with Johnny Mac showing his familiar ferocity in the doubles duel in the video above.John Isner, Kei Nishikori and defending champion Ryan Harrison, who won the title in the tournament's final appearance in its Memphis home last February, have committed to playing the event.McEnroe, a Douglaston, New York native, will help promote the return of the ATP World Tour to Long Island.The Hall of Famer may also play an opening night exhibition match set for February 11th at 7:30 p.m.“I recently had a chance to visit the newly renovated Coliseum, and I think it’s the perfect venue to bring top talent to New York on the heels of the Australian Open,” said McEnroe. “I’m looking forward to being a part of the first-ever New York Open and helping to create a fun and impactful Opening Night on Long Island.”Photo credit: Wimbledon Facebook ]]>
