Jannik Sinner Defeats Carlos Alcaraz to Win $6 Million Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia
Six Kings, one champion – and his name is Jannik Sinner.
For the second consecutive year the Italian won the lucrative Six Kings Slam exhibition in Saudi Arabia, earning the $6 million winner’s purse with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Carlos Alcaraz in Saturday’s final in a spirited affair that lasted one hour and 11 minutes and was dominated by Sinner.
Sinner was on fire from start to finish and he played with enough pace and power to force Alcaraz into a more reactive posture. The Spaniard loves to deliver variety and unpredictability but he frankly wasn’t given a chance in this contest.
In a rematch of last year’s final, won by Sinner in three sets (6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3) by the Italian, Sinner never faced a break piont and dropped just eight points on serve.
He broke Alcaraz three times from nine opportunities.
Earlier in the evening Taylor Fritz beat Novak Djokovic when the Serbian icon retired due to injury after losing the first set tiebreak, 7-6(4) in 69 hard-fought minutes.
