Federer To Play 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Swiss maestro Roger Federer will play for heavy medal in 2020.The 20-time Grand Slam champion confirmed he plans to play the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.More: Murrays Expecting Their Third Child"I've been debating with my team for a few weeks now, months actually, what I should do in the summer after Wimbledon and before the US Open," Federer said. Federer partnered buddy Stan Wawrinka to the Olympic doubles gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he served as Switzerland's flag bearer. Federer fell to American James Blake in the Beijing quarterfinals.

The 38-year-old Swiss will take another shot at the Olympic singles gold medal in what will be his fifth career Olympic appearance. Federer's best singles result was winning the silver medal at the 2012 London Games where he bowed to home favorite Andy Murray in a festive final on the grass of Wimbledon. The Olympics hold a special place in Federer's heart. At the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Federer began dating fellow Olympian and future wife, Mirka.
