Anisimova Pulls Out of Charleston Due to Injury

Amanda Anisimova will miss the Credit One Charleston Open this week. The World No.6, who also recently announced a parting of ways with longtime coach Hendrik Vleeshouwers, says she picked up an injury at the Miami Open, where she lost in the round of 16 to Belinda Bencic, 6-2, 6-2.

“I’m really sorry to have to miss this year’s Charleston Open,” Anisimova said in a statement that was tweeted by the tournament. “I picked up an injury at the Miami Open and after taking medical advice, I’ve made the difficult decision to withdraw and focus on my recovery. I’ve always loved playing in front of the fans in Charleston, the support there means so much to me.
I hope to be back and see you all next year.”

Anisimova is a two-time semifinalist at Charleston, in 2022 and 2025.
