Caroline Wozniacki only needed 44 minutes to advance in her opening match at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup.

WTA: Top Seed Cornet Falls to Qualifier in Bastad

The top seed easily dismissed young Swiss talent Belinda Bencic 6-0, 6-0 during their match on Tuesday. Wozniacki saved all three game points against her and also fired nine aces in the win.

This was the third time Wozniacki has ever won a match without dropping a single game.

"I played well today and served very well," Wozniacki said later. "I'm overall happy with my game, enjoying my time here and just looking forward to my next match."

No. 2 seed Roberta Vinci also had an easy time of things in her opening round contest against American Anna Tatishvili.

Vinci wrapped up a 6-2, 6-2 win in over 63 minutes. Vinci is fresh off having reached last week's Bucharest Open final where she lost to eventual champion Simona Halep.

Other winners included No. 6 seed Kurumi Nara and No. 8 seed Karolina Pliskova. No. 5 seed Magdalena Rybarikova fell to Croatian qualifier Ana Konjuh 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

This is the first year for the WTA International event held in Istanbul. The city was the previous host for the year-end WTA Championships from 2011-2013.
