Danielle Collins powered into her first WTA final with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over China’s Zhang Shuai.
The World No.44, making her debut in Palermo, will face Romania’s Elena Gabriela Ruse for the title.
Collins improved to 21-9 on the season by saving five of six break points. She rallied from 4-2 down in the opening set and saved a pair of break points at 4-all before clinching the stanza, 6-4.
Collins raced out to a 3-0 lead in set two and never looked back.
Ruse made headlines last week when she qualified at Hamburg and took the title. This week she has picked up where she left off, qualifying again before defeating France’s Oceane Dodin, 6-7(4), 7-6(0), 6-1 to reach the final and stretch her winning streak to nine (13 with qualifying).
