September 9: American former doubles No. 1 Donald Johnson turns 43. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Johnson won the 2001 Wimbledon men's double title alongside Jared Palmer, and the 2000 Wimbledon mixed doubles crown with Kimberly Po.

September 10: Former world No. 1 and three-time French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten turns 36. Injuries cut short a career that otherwise saw him win 20 titles and reach No. 1 for the first time in December of 2000.

Former world No. 7 female Julie Halard-Decugis turns 42. Halard-Decugis won 12 titles and reached the quarterfinals of both the Australian and French Opens. She reached No. 1 in the world in doubles in 2000 and won the US Open womens' doubles title that same year with partner Ai Sugiyama, defeating Serena and Venus Williams.

September 13: Goran Ivanisevic, the only man to win Wimbledon as a wildcard, turns 41. He won 22 titles overall and reached No. 2 in the world. After losing the Wimbledon final three times, he defeated former or future No. 1 players Carlos Moya, Andy Roddick, Marat Safin and Patrick Rafter to win the Wimbledon crown.
