World Team Tennis Holds Draft For 40th Season

Mylan World Team Tennis announced on Monday its player draft for the upcoming 40th season this summer.

Serena Williams will make her return to the Washington Kastles team for the first time since 2011. She'll join her sister Venus Williams, Sam Querrey, and Martina Hingis who are also on the team. The Washington Kastles has won the team title four years in a row.

Eugenie Bouchard of Canada was chosen by the Boston Lobsters as the overall No. 1 pick when the draft was held at Indian Wells, California.

The California Dream, a new team for this year based in Sacramento, will be lead by doubles greats Bob and Mike Bryan.

John Isner and Alison Riske will compete for the Springfield Lasers while Madison Keys will play for the San Diego Aviators. Andy Roddick will again return for the Austin Aces. Taylor Townsend will remain with the Philadelphia Freedom.

Play will take place from July 12 to August 2nd.

The unique team tennis event co-founded by Billie Jean King is only the fifth major professional sports league in the U.S. to reach the 40th year season milestone.
