Newly-engaged Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur may share a modified New Year's Eve celebration.

That's because tennis' top power couple could create fireworks on New Year's Day.

Australian No. 1 de Minaur and British No. 1 Boulter are set to square off in a United Cup mixed doubles clash on New Year's Day in Sydney.

Facing her fiancé will be a physical and emotional battle Boulter said.

"I mean, it's a tough situation," Boulter said after leading Great Britain to a 2-1 win over Argentina in Group F play staged in Sydney. "It is. It's a tough one.

"[Alex] was smiling when I came off the court because we kept them in it, so he's happy. I'm not going to be happy until I win. Yeah, I'm just looking forward to a battle."

The couple famously partnered at the 2023 Wimbledon mixed doubles.

They'll launch the New Year as opponents—and will leave the court together.

"Look, I don't know what's going to happen on the day," Boulter said. "I just have to keep my head down and try not to think too much about it, but we're both going to be fighting for it.

"We both want it. We both are competitive. No matter what happens, we're still going to go home happy. That's all that matters."
