Roger Federer fell to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon and US Open finals last year.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion arrived in Brisbane with clear vision of his Grand Slam goals. Federer says while he believes he can still win major championships, he won't be frustrated if he continues to fall short.

"I’ve come so close, I’ve played very well, but I don’t feel any frustration because of it,” Federer said in comments published by the AP. “I’m still happy with how I’m playing. It was Novak’s year ...

"But at the same time I don’t feel sorry for myself. I’ve won so much throughout my career, I feel like if I keep pushing forward it might happen. If not, it’s OK."

The top-seeded Federer has a first-round bye at the Brisbane International. He's in the same quarter of the draw as third-seeded Marin Cilic. Federer could play the winner of the opening-round match between Gilles Simon and Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals.

The Swiss looked smooth in this pre-tournament practice with Denis Istomin as new coach Ivan Ljubicic looked over Federer's shoulder.
