Novak Djokovic came out on fire against Roger Federer, and the Serb didn’t cool down for two full sets during his 6-1, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over the Swiss. The world No. 1 put on a jaw-dropping display of tennis, and took the racquet out of Federer’s hands with heavy, aggressive play, flawless footwork, maniacal court coverage, and a bristling, ruthless intensity.

Djokovic won 56 points to just 27 for Federer in those first two sets, and he had commentators and social media buzzing about just how otherworldly his tennis was.

Djokovic’s level dipped a bit and Federer showed great heart to rally to take the third set and remain competitive in the fourth, but the big takeaway from this match, when all was said and done, is that Djokovic took his game to an unprecedented level tonight in Melbourne. Now one match from his 11th Grand Slam title, it looks like Djokovic could be a legitimate part of the GOAT conversation sooner rather than later. His performance was THAT GOOD.
