26,590 Points? 20 Titles? Sincaraz Domination Reaches New Heights
Men’s tennis is witnessing an age of unprecedented domination at the top.
As of Monday’s ATP rankings, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz currently have 26,590 (13,350 for Sinner and 13,240 for Alcaraz) points which, according to ATP Media, is the highest number of points ever held by two players since the ATP changed how it calculates ranking points in 2009.
No pair of players at No. 1 and No. 2 have had that number of points collectively before. Alcaraz and Sinner overtook Nadal and Federer’s tally, who compiled 26,150 back in April of 2009. At that point, Nadal had 15,390 and Federer had 10,760.

Sinner and Alcaraz currently have more combined points than the rest of the remaining eight players in the Top 10 combined.
Either Sinner or Alcaraz has held the WTA’s No. 1 ranking since June 10, 2024.
Alcaraz, playing as the top seed in Barcelona this week, and already through to the second round with a win over Otto Virtanen on Tuesday, would reclaim the No. 1 ranking if he wins his third title in Barca.

Another example of the widening gap between Sinner, Alcaraz and the rest of the field is the fact that no player has won a title that included both in the same draw since Andrey Rublev won the Madrid title in 2004. Since then, either Alcaraz or Sinner has won the title at every single event in which they have contested the main draw, with Alcaraz winning nine and Sinner willing eleven.
We can add to that the fact that either Alcaraz or Sinner has won each of the last nine major men’s singles titles on offer, starting with the Australian Open in 2024.
