ATP Rankings: Sinner Makes History for Italy, Mannarino Rising

By Chris Oddo | @TheFanChild | Thursday October 5, 2023Jannik Sinner takes his place at No.4 in the ATP rankings, as the highest-ranked Italian player since 1976, in Thursday’s freshly released rankings.The Italian, who claimed his ninth career title at Beijing on Wednesday, is one of five Italian men in the Top 100, and one of three Italians – along with No. 18 Lorenzo Musetti and No.42 Matteo Arnaldi – in the Top 50.Arnaldi, who reached the round of 16 in Beijing, is up six spots to No.42 – a career-high for the 22-year-old.Sinner was the biggest mover inside the ATP’s Top-20. Just outside the Top-20, Frances Adrian Mannarino continued his ranking revival as he jumped another 11 spots to No.23. Mannarino, 35, is just one spot shy of his career-high ranking after winning the Astana title. The Soisy-Sous-Montmorency native is 37-20 on the season with two titles.

Mannarino Rising Mannarino was the biggest riser inside the Top-50 this week.Tomas Machac (+22 to 96) and Jack Draper (+16 to 92) are the two biggest risers inside the Top 100.Machac defeated Draper in the Orleans Challenger final, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.Updating the Race to Turin There were no changes in the Race to Turin standings, but Sinner did edge closer to qualification with his title in Beijing. Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev have each qualified for the eight-player field, with Sinner, at No.4, next in line.Here are the Top 14 in the current standings:
