— Tennis TV (@TennisTV) November 12, 2018 Jack Sock is absolutely playing for keeps this week at the ATP Finals in London. Paired with legendary Mike Bryan (Bob is still recuperating from hip surgery), the American went for broke on this forehand during the second set of the team’s 6-3, 7-6(5) win over Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo.Score a direct hit. According to the broadcast it was a 122 MPH forehand off the racquet of Sock.Tecnifibre T-FightIt was the only way the Americans were going to win the point, and it left Melo, not surprisingly, stunned for a bit.He would jump up and continue the match—no time for hard feelings in elite doubles, which the Americans finished off when Kubot double-faulted on match point (handshake was friendly after the match and Sock kindly inquired about Melo’s well-being).It wasn’t the only dangerous play we saw in the doubles at O2 Arena today. In the first match Nicolas Mahut was injured when he tripped over Lacoste signage at the back of the court. It’s not the first time that a player has had difficulty with signage like this in 2018—and unless the issue is addressed it may not be the last.

Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic defeated Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 7-6(3). ]]>
