16-year-old Ana Konjuh of Croatia booked her spot in the quarters with a three set win over Japan's Misaki Doi. From 2-all in the final set, Konjuh went on to win 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-4.
Konjuh, who won the junior 2013 Australian Open and US Open, is now the youngest WTA player in two years to reach a main draw quarterfinal.
The last woman to do so was Donna Vekic back in 2012 at Tashkent.
Konjuh next faces Elina Svitolina.
No. 2 seed Roberta Vinci played her way into the quarters as well. She advanced 6-3, 4-1 after her opponent Alexandra Dulgheru retired with a right shoulder injury.
Karolina Pliskova, the No. 8 seed, also made in through with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Shahar Peer. Pliskova will next face top seed Caroline Wozniacki.
