Roberto Bautista Agut is getting on in years – and ATP titles. The 34-year-old captured his 11th title on Saturday in Kitzbuhel, defeating home hope Filip Misolic, 6-2, 6-2, for his second clay-court title.
“I enjoyed the final, I think I managed all the pressure very well,” said Bautista Agut. “I knew I was a little bit more the favorite today, but he had so many good wins this tournament I knew it was going to be a difficult match and I played a very good match.”
With his victory, Bautista Agut becomes the ninth ATP player to have won tour-level titles on multiple surfaces, joining Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, Rafael Nadal, Cameron Norrie, Reilly Opelka, Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
It is his first win on clay swince 2014, and his 11th title overall.
“It was a very long time that I didn’t win a title on clay,” said Bautista Agut. “I think almost eight or nine years – it’s very special for me because I did a lot of good work on this surface and was never paid.”
Milosic was playing his first ATP event. He wowed the crowd by reeling off four consecutive wins including a deciding-set tiebreak in the semifinals against Yannick Hanfmann, which completed on Saturday.
The 20-year-old entered the event ranked 205, and will rise to a career-high 157 in next week’s rankings.
