Roberto Bautista Agut reclaimed the Doha throne on Saturday, avenging his loss in last year’s final with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Nikoloz Basilashvili to claim his tenth ATP title.

The Spaniard improves to 13-2 lifetime at Doha with titles in 2019 and 2022, as well as his runner-up performance last year.

“I have been working very hard to play another final, to get the chance to win another title, and well, it was a big dream for me when I was young to lift a title, and I won two times here in Doha and this one is very special for me, and I cannot be more happy than now,” Bautista Agut said on court after the final.

The triumph marks the 33-year-old’s first title on tour since 2019 in Doha. The Spaniard also holds multiple titles at Auckland (2016 and 2018).

Bautista Agut improved to 4-2 lifetime against Basilashvili. He broke four times on nine opportunities, and rallied from 3-0 down in the second set, winning six of the final seven games.

“It was not easy to recover after a really tough battle yesterday,” said Bautista Agut, who defeated Karen Khachanov in three sets on Friday. “But I think I did a pretty good time today, with my team also, recovering.”
