Andy Murray took the scenic route to a 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4 victory over top-ranked American John Isner. The third-seeded Scot won for the fifth time in five career outings with the bomb-serving American, saving all seven break points he faced.

Murray’s win, his 9th of the season that saw him drop the first set, is his 63rd overall and sets up a quarterfinal encounter with either Gilles Simon or Tomas Berdych.
After dropping the opening-set tiebreaker to Isner, Murray would have to claw his way back into the match. He finally converted his 7th break point of the set to open up a 5-4 lead but had to stave off two break points to serve out the set.
The third set followed a similar pattern but Murray was able to break through a tad earlier. He took the break in the seventh game when Isner overcooked an inside-out forehand that sailed well wide.
But Murray was not out of the woods yet. After Isner saved a match point to hold, the World No. 2 faced another break point while serving for the match at 30-40. He was able to take the final three points behind some strong serving to close the victory in two hours and 39 minutes.
