Ever since he parted ways with longtime coach Goran Ivanisevic in March, the tennis world has waited with bated breath to find out who would coach Novak Djokovic next.

Enter Andy Murray.

It has been announced that Djokovic and Murray will work together this off-season and through the 2025 Australian Open, where Djokovic will bid to win a record 25th major title.

Djokovic took to social media to confirm the news, posting; “He never liked retirement anyway.”

Murray himself officially retired after Wimbledon this year. The three-time Grand Slam champion was born a week before Djokovic in May of 1987, and the pair have known each other since juniors and throughout their professional careers.

Djokovic won 25 of their 36 encounters but Murray famously defeated Djokovic to win two of his three major titles, at the US Open in 2012 and at Wimbledon in 2013.

“I am excited to have one of my greatest rivals on the same side of the net, as my coach,” Djokovic said in a statement. “Looking forward to start of the season and competing in Australia alongside Andy with whom I have shared many exceptional moments on the Australian soil.”

Murray says he’ll join the Serbian legend during the off-season before heading to Australia.

“I’m going to be joining Novak’s team in the off season, helping him to prepare for the Australian Open,” the former World No.1 said. “I’m really excited for it and looking forward to spending time on the same side of the net as Novak for a change, helping him to achieve his goals.”
