2010 was the year that ended Spain’s dominance at the Davis Cup. Winners of the trophy four times in the last 10 years, Spain were aiming for a third straight title and seemed on course to do so when in their World Group opener they cruised past Switzerland 4-1 in a tie that lacked Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
