Rafael Nadal wrote several new chapters into the tennis record books on Sunday in Paris. The Spaniard wins his 13th Roland Garros trophy, breaking his own record for titles at a single major and becoming the first player to win 13 titles at any professional tennis tournament. He also won his 100th match at Roland Garros to become the first player to win 100 in Paris, and just the second men's singles player to win 100 matches at the same Slam.



And of course, there’s the fact that he has joined Roger Federer as one of two men to have reached 20 major singles titles.

Federer was quick to congratulate Nadal on social media after the Spaniard took out Novak Djokovic 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 in the final, and Nadal took questions about his new status as the co-leader in Grand Slam men’s singles titles.

Nadal’s message? It doesn’t stop here.

“I never hide that for me, I always say the same, that I would love to finish my career being the player with more Grand Slams,” he said. “No doubt about that, no?”

As he has often done in the past, Nadal wants to make it clear that he’s not going to obsess over records.

“I'm not going to be thinking all the time ‘Novak have this one, Roger is winning the other one.’” He said. “You can't be always unhappy because your neighbor have a bigger house than you or a bigger boat or have a better phone. You have to live your personal life, no?

“Personally that's the things that I did during all my career, just try to follow my road, try my best every single day. In terms of these records, of course I care. I am a big fan of the history of sport in general. I respect a lot that. For me means a lot to share this number with Roger, no? But let's see what's going on when we finish our careers. We keep playing.”
