A difficult year continues for France’s Lucas Pouille. Not only has the Frenchman not been fit enough to play a single ATP level match in 2020, he also had to endure an elbow surgery in July and the parting of ways with his coach Amelie Mauresmo this week.

Now, to top it off, Pouille has tested positive for Covid-19.

The 26-year-old World No.69 announced the news on Instagram on Saturday.

“Unfortunately I have just been tested positive for Covid-19,” Pouille wrote on Instagram. “I am going to put myself in isolation for a period of seven days. A new test will be done at the end of this period to see if I am still positive or not. The FFT medical service has been notified of the situation. So far, I’ve only developed loss of smell as a symptom.”

It must be very stressful for the former World No.9. He announced last month that his wife, Clemence, was pregnant with the couple's first child.

Pouille ended has partnership with Mauresmo after two years. It started on a high note with the Frenchman reaching his first Grand Slam semi-final at the 2019 Australian Open.
