Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

This one is pretty high on the cuteness meter.

Grigor Dimitrov wears his heart on his sleeve in a different way in Shanghai, and you know what? Even though the Bulgarian suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of Canada’s Vasek Pospisil, we think that Dimitrov showed he is a winner and should be commended for his humanity as he comes to the aid of this young ball kid after a Pospisil serve tags him in the chest.

The kid was obviously shaken up, and Dimitrov did a nice job of making sure that he was okay before play was continued. It’s not the first time that Dimitrov has done this sort of thing and it probably won’t be the last. We just want to take a moment to say thank you Grigor, because in an age where ball boys and girls are regularly treated with contempt and disdain for no good reason, you seem to get it.

Thanks for showing the world the proper way to treat a ball kid on court. Now, let’s hope the rest of the tennis world follows your lead.
