The two-time Wimbledon champion, who has missed the entire season after undergoing surgery on her left hand last December, is in the Roland Garros draw.

The 15th-seeded Kvitova will face American Julia Boserup in her Roland Garros opener.

The former world No. 2 was the victim of a horrific stabbing by a home invader in the Czech city of Prostejov last year. That attack caused injuries to her left hand.

Kvitova has resumed practicing in recent weeks and plans to play her first Grand Slam since the US Open last August.

The 27-year-old Kvitova's best Paris performance was a semifinal appearance in 2012. Kvitova fell in the French Open third round last year.

Welcome to Paris, @petra.kvitova! We're so happy to see you back! #RG17

Kvitova is in the top quarter of the draw—the same section as world No. 1 Angelique Kerber, who has a tough first-round assignment in fellow lefty Ekaterina Makarova, and 2010 French Open finalist Samantha Stosur, who faces Kristina Kucova in her opener.

Another intriguing first-round match in the top quarter pits Olympic gold-medal champion Monica Puig against 2015 US Open runner-up Roberta Vinci.
