Petra Kvitova on a tennis court, smacking a backhand? Has there ever been a more beautiful sight?

The Czech, who had surgery to repair her left hand after she was injured by a knife attack last December, announced a few weeks back that she had put herself on the entry list for Roland Garros, and on Tuesday she posted a picture of herself working hard on the practice courts in Monte-Carlo.

“I wanted to provide a quick (and hopefully positive) update for you,” she wrote two weeks ago. “My name will appear on the entry list for Roland Garros tomorrow because, as the entry deadline approached I had made good progress in my recovery process and I want to give myself every last opportunity to be able to compete at one of my favourite events.”

Here is her latest post on Instagram (see below, from Tuesday afternoon). Apparently things are going well. Fingers crossed for a speedy return, whenever that happens.
