Watch a relentless Halep finally break down Stosur's defenses with this rousing attacking point in the third game of the second set.

It wasn't enough.

In a clash of former French Open finalists, Stosur rallied from 3-5 down knock Halep out, 7-6 (0), 6-3. Stosur is through to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal since the 2012 US Open.

The 2011 US Open champion will faceTsvetana Pironkova for a place in the final four.

Pironkova, a former Wimbledon semifinalist, stunned second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Halep, the 2014 runner-up to Maria Sharapova, had won her last four meetings with 2010 finalist Stosur.
