Roger Federer will begin his bid for a record ninth title at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle with a first-round match against Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany. Federer is bidding for his 4th straight title at Halle. He won titles at Halle in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Federer owns a 51-5 lifetime record at the Gerry Weber Open.

Second-seeded Kei Nishikori will open with France’s Lucas Pouille, while third-seeded Dominic Thiem opens with Joao Sousa.
If the seeds hold, Federer would face Belgium’s David Goffin in the quarterfinals, while Nishikori would face Spain’s David Ferrer.
There are a couple of enticing first-round battles at Halle featuring two of the ATP’s NextGen stars. Borna Coric will open with Goffin, while Alexander Zverev will begin his campaign with Viktor Troicki.
