Second-seeded Kei Nishikori will open with France’s Lucas Pouille, while third-seeded Dominic Thiem opens with Joao Sousa.

If the seeds hold, Federer would face Belgium’s David Goffin in the quarterfinals, while Nishikori would face Spain’s David Ferrer.

There are a couple of enticing first-round battles at Halle featuring two of the ATP’s NextGen stars. Borna Coric will open with Goffin, while Alexander Zverev will begin his campaign with Viktor Troicki.
