Florian Mayer reached his first semifinal in over two years at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle on Friday—and he did it in style.

The 32-year-old world No. 192 has battled injuries for the past several seasons, but he is rounding into top form this week. And clearly he’s not worried about his body. Just take a look at this scintillating dive volley. Italian Andreas Seppi thinks he has the point won when he reads and reacts to Mayer’s two-hander down the line with a quick, snappy forehand pass, but the German is there to save the day. He goes full-extension and feathers the ball into the open court.

Mayer went on to secure the 7-6(4), 6-3 victory over Seppi to snap a personal three-match losing streak against the Italian. He improves to 5-4 on the season and will face Dominic Thiem in the semifinals on Saturday.
