World No. 18 and the No. 3 American woman Madison Keys has pulled out of next week’s Apia International in Sydney due to an injury to her left forearm that she sustained during the off-season.
Keys went 31-18 last season and reached the Australian Open semifinals, her best result to date at a major. The 20-year-old reached the second round at Brisbane and Sydney last year before her breakout in Melbourne. She has been in Australia training and didn’t give any specifics as to the severity of the injury.
