The crocodile will make a rare racquet appearance this spring.
Lacoste will launch one of the world's most exclusive — and expensive — racquets.
Combining tradition and technology, Lacoste will release its new limited-edition LT12 racquet in April. The hybrid racquet is comprised of 70 percent wood and 30 percent graphite.
Three types of woods — walnut wood, balsa wood and lime tree wood — were combined with graphite to create the frame. Walnut wood "ensures rigidity inside the racquet and dampens string vibrations," balsa wood is at the core of the frame, and lime tree wood is used to dampen vibrations, according to Lacoste.
The brand says each racquet is hand-made by French craftsmen in Albertville; 650 numbered copies of the racquet will be sold in some Lacoste boutiques world-wide starting in April. But you may want to start saving for it now.
The racquet will retail for €550, which is about $617 given current exchange rates.
