The Belgrade-born baseliner succeeds Nenad Zimonjic as captain.
“It’s a huge honor and a huge privilege to be captain of Davis Cup team Serbia, a team that has won the Davis Cup and also had a lot of success in the past years," Troicki said in comments published by DavisCup.com. “It’s a dream come true.
"I didn’t expect that it would come so soon but definitely it was something that I was looking forward to.”
In 2010, Troicki swept Michael Llodra 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 to clinch Serbia's first Davis Cup championship with a 3-2 victory over France before a wildly enthusiastic crowd in his hometown of Belgrade.
Troicki also partnered good buddy Novak Djokovic to defeat Feliciano Lopez and Pablo Carreno Busta helping lead Serbia over Spain in the 2020 ATP Cup final last January.
