"Why not? Why not?," Djokovic told the Davis Cup YouTube channel. "I really enjoy this competition very much. I enjoy being with these guys. Tennis has given me so much in my life, I can't thank it enough for it.

"One day when I retire from my active career as a player I will definitely consider taking over as the Davis Cup captain."

Currently, Djokovic's good friend and sometime Davis Cup doubles partner, Nenad Zimonjic, is the team's player-captain.

Zimonjic partnered Viktor Troicki to a five-set victory over Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta and Marc Lopez clinching Serbia's quarterfinal victory over Spain today.

Serbia will travel to France for the Davis Cup semifinals, September 15-17th, that is a rematch of the 2010 Davis Cup final, which Serbia won, 3-2.

Djokovic said he would like to serve as captain to continue the nation's tennis tradition.

"Because it is a big responsibility, but it's a great privilege as well," Djokovic said. "That you get to lead a team on the world stage and also contribute with your experience and knowledge and convey a lot to the youngsters."
