Competing on home soil prompts proactive tennis in Alexander Zverev.
Today, Zverev continued his Munich mastery thrashing Gabriel Diallo 6-1, 6-2 to charge into the BMW Open quarterfinals for the eighth time in 12 appearances.

“I think he had some issues with the back and was not serving fully in the second set,” Zverev said in his on-court interview. “But I am happy with the win and happy to get an easier match today.”
Zverev joins compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber (10) as the second German man to reach eight or more Munich quarterfinals.
The serve was the key stroke today. Zverev served 75 percent, won 25 of 30 first-serve points and saved the only break point he faced defeating Diallo for the second time this season following his four-set win in the Australian Open first round.
It is the 113th Tour-level quarterfinal for Zverev, who improved to 20-6 in 2026.
World No. 3 Zverev faces Francisco Cerundolo for a semifinal spot.
The fifth-seeded Cerundolo crushed Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-0. Cerundolo stormed through eight straight games to close his third win over van de Zandschulp in as many meetings.
Riding his fierce forehand, Cerundolo is the third man to score 10 or more clay-court match wins this season, joining Tomas Martin Etcheverry (13) and Alejandro Tabilo (10).
Zverev has beaten Buenos Aires champion Cerundolo four times in a row, including a straight-sets beat-down in Miami last month, to take a 4-3 lead in their head-to-head series.
However, the 19th-ranked Cerundolo is 3-0 vs. Zverev on red clay.
