It hasn’t been the perfect season for Aryna Sabalenka, but it’s still been pretty darn good.
Sabalenka became the second player to qualify for this year’s WTA Finals on Tuesday, the four-time major champion joining Elena Rybakina at the event which is set to be played at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden for the first time.
A runner up at the WTA Finals in 2022 and 2025, Sabalenka has reached five finals this year, and claimed back-to-back titles at Indian Wells and Miami. She also won Brisbane.
2026 marks Sabalenka’s sixth consecutive appearance at the WTA Finals.
Though Sabalenka has gone a full year without winning a major for the first time since 2022, she has registered an impressive 46-9 record on the season and reached major finals in Australia and Flushing Meadows.
After the US Open, where she lost to Rybakina in the final, she relinquished her No.1 ranking after 99 consecutive weeks at the top. The 28-year-old has spent a total of 107 weeks at No.1, good for tenth all-time.
