Paul out of Paris, 2025 Season all but over

The American reached the Top 10 for the first time in 2025, but his progress has been slowed by injuries.

Tommy Paul has not played since his third-round loss to Alexander Bublik at the US Open, and that will not change anytime soon.

The 20th-ranked American, 28, has all but pulled the plug on his season by withdrawing from next week’s Paris Masters.

Paul, who has been dealing with a left foot issue for several months, had his momentum curtailed in the second half of 2025. He reached the quarterfinals at the first two Slams, but lost in the second round at Wimbledon and the thor round in New York. He went 29-13 on the season overall, and made his Top 10 debut in January, but as injuries mounted (there was also an ab issue at Roland-Garros) Paul fell out of the Top 10 in June.

He ruptured a ligament in his left foot at Wimbledon, and was never the same. A player who relies on courtcraft and stunning athleticism, it’s not hard to see why Paul would struggle to find his footing after such an injury.

A long off season should give him a shot to regain fitness and thus form in 2026.
