Ashlyn Krueger continues to turn Osaka into her happy space.

Krueger toppled top-seeded compatriot Ann Li 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-3, to reach her first final of the year at the Japan Open.

The 2023 Osaka champion Krueger improved to 10-2 lifetime at the tournament where she won her maiden title.

World No. 55 Krueger scored her 13th career Top 25 victory to advance to her first final since she was runner-up to Belinda Bencic at the 2025 Abu Dhabi.

Krueger broke to open the final set and backed up the break at 15. The 22-year-old Dallas native closed in two hours, 13 minutes.

The 2026 US Open doubles finalist Krueger will play Katerina Siniakova for the title.

Doubles world No. 1 Siniakova swept Briton Katie Boulter 6-1, 6-4, in today’s second semifinal.

Siniakova, who partnered Taylor Townsend to the 2026 US Open doubles championship, will play for her sixth career singles title tomorrow.
