Jakub Mensik Out of Next Gen Finals, Justin Engel in

Justin Engel will join this year's Next Gen ATP Final field in place of Jakub Mensik.

The 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals lost one of its biggest names in Czech Jakub Mensik.

The 20-year-old world No.19 pulled out of the event due to injury. Mensik had a breakout 2025 season, winning the Miami Open title to become the second youngest champion in that tournament’s history.

Mensik will be replaced by Germany’s Justin Engel, the world No.187, in the event which takes place from December 17-21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

18-year-old Engel enjoyed a solid season both on the ATP Tour and the Challenge tour in 2025. At Stuttgart he became the second-youngest player, after Rafael Nadal, to claim a tour-level win on all three surfaces (since 1990).

Here are all the previous winners at the Next Gen ATP Finals, a list which includes Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Joao Fonseca and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
