The Fery Tale ended two miles from home.
SW19 resident Arthur Fery’s inspired run to the Wimbledon semifinals ended with a 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4 loss to French Open champion Alexander Zverev today.
The second-seeded Zverev lifted his level in a transcendent tiebreaker then rolled on scoring his 13th consecutive major win.
Home hero Fery electrified Wimbledon and inspired tennis dreamers all over the world battling into the final four at his home Slam.
Centre Court crowd and the fans packed on Henman Hill rose saluting the world No. 114, who played in front of Princess Kate, Queen Camila, Roger Federer and moved the masses in the process.
“It’s been new to me for these past two weeks, having so much support, so many fans, so much support on social media and, yeah, as you say, on Henman Hill, Murray Mount, whatever you want to call it,” Fery said. “Yeah, it’s something I have to get used to if I keep playing well, which I hope I will.
“Yeah, it’s awesome. It’s awesome. It pushes me to do better and give my best on the court.”
Afterward, Fery said vocal Wimbledon fans inspired him and vowed he’s committing to paying back their passion making more major magic in the future.
“Thank you. Just thank you,” Fery said of his message to fans. “I hope that I can transmit and, yeah, transmit emotions. Yeah, I don’t know. Yeah, give them the energy back that they give to me and that sport is all about people love sport because it — I don’t know how to describe it.
“Yeah, it gives people emotions. It’s great for everyone watching. So that’s what I hope I’m giving back to them.”
