Former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero shot down rumors he is suffering from cancer branding those reports “fake news.”

Ferrero, long-time coach of world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, took to social media to refute those reports.

The rumors are particularly painful to Ferrero because his mother, Rosario, died of cancer when he was 16 years old. The former French Open champion dedicated his tennis career to his mother, who was his greatest fan.

“Moreover than deny it, I would like to express my concern on using such a sensible topics to generate clicks and views. Cancer is a serious disease that has marked my family and many others. This topic deserves maximum respect.”
