Emma Raducanu’s Grand Slam season has taken another painful turn.

The 2021 US Open champion has withdrawn from this month’s US Open as she continues recovery from a stress fracture in her right leg, PA Sports reports today.

World No. 49 Raducanu, who reached the Queen’s Club final in June falling to Donna Vekic, was also forced out of Wimbledon due to the injury.

“I’ve done everything possible to try to get to the start line but after a final scan tonight the niggle I’ve been managing has developed into a stress fracture,” said Raducanu, who withdrew from Wimbledon the night before The Championships started. “I’ve been medically advised to stop pushing through.”

Former world No. 10 Raducanu has posted an 11-10 record with eight of her 11 victories coming in two tournaments. Raducanu reached the Transylvania Open final in February losing to Romanian Sorana Cirstea, 6-0, 6-2.

In June, Raducanu toppled a pair of Top 20 players in Cirstea and American Iva Jovic to reach the Queen’s Club final.

Since she made history as the first qualifier, male or female, to play through qualifying and capture a Grand Slam singles title at the 2021 US Open, Raducanu has struggled to find traction in New York. She’s managed just two US Open wins in her last three appearances, reaching the 2025 third round where she lost to Elena Rybakina.
