Andreeva Continues Swiatek’s Top-10 Woes in Stuttgart
Iga Swiatek’s wait for a first Top 10 win of 2026 will go on. Mirra Andreeva made sure of that on Friday, taking out the two-time Stuttgart champion in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, to reach the semifinals at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

The 2022 and 2023 champion, now working with Francisco Roig following a mid-season coaching change, saw her losing streak against Top 10 players stretch to six—her longest such run. She is also still without a WTA semifinal appearance since last September in Seoul.
Andreeva, fresh off her Linz title, extended her winning streak against Swiatek to three and improved her current run to seven consecutive victories, including four straight three-set wins.
“When you play against someone so experienced—she’s won so many tournaments, I can’t even count how many Slams and Masters she has—you know it’s going to be tough,” Andreeva said.
The 18-year-old credited her growing confidence as the difference.
“I feel confident in my game,” she said. “I’ve won a couple of matches in Linz, and I’ve been playing well here too. I just kept telling myself that no matter what happens, I have to keep fighting and believe I can win from any score.”
Swiatek fell behind by an early break in each of the first two sets but responded quickly both times. In the opener, it was enough for her to seize control. In the second, however, it was Andreeva who stepped forward—crushing a forehand return winner on her first set point with Swiatek serving at 4-5.
Game on.
After saving a break point early in the third set to avoid falling behind a double break, Andreeva turned the tide. She broke back, held for 3-2 with a perfectly weighted forehand drop shot, and then surged ahead, taking two more games for a 5-2 lead.
She closed out the match two games later, converting her second match point when Swiatek sent a return into the net.
“I was just trying to be fearless,” Andreeva said. “When I get tight, I tend to just put the ball in and wait for mistakes. Against someone like her, that’s not going to work. So I forced myself to go for my shots and finish the match on my own terms.”
Andreeva notched her third career Top 10 win on clay and now owns an 11-13 record against Top 10 opponents. She will face either Elena Rybakina or Leylah Fernandez for a place in the final.
Muchova, Svitolina Advance
It was a day full of marquee matchups in Stuttgart.
Karolina Muchova snapped a six-match losing streak against Coco Gauff, earning a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory to reach the semifinals.
The Doha champion improved to 4-0 in quarterfinals this season, having won just one of her previous 13 sets against Gauff prior to Friday.
Elina Svitolina also advanced, defeating Linda Noskova, 7-6(2), 7-5.
The Ukrainian, now fourth on the WTA Tour in wins this season with 22, improves to a perfect 5-0 in quarterfinals in 2026.
