Amanda Anisimova announced that she will be taking the rest of the season off in order to heal a wrist injury. The 25-year-old American, currently ranked No.11, dealt with a wrist injury from the spring. Though she returned to the court in time to play Roland Garros, and continued on to play 18 matches between the French Open and the US Open, she needs more time to get right.
Anisimova did not mention details of the injury, so at the time it is not known if it is a recurrence of the same injury, or something different.
Anisimova finishes the season with a 22-12 record that includes a semifinal in Dubai, and quarterfinals at the Australian Open, Queen’s Club and Cincinnati.
She lost in the third round at Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open.
